Fuel Surcharge Reduces Further
" 9/02/2007 The Commission is pleased to advise that the fuel surcharge will further reduce to 2.16 cents per kWh. Since the introduction of the surcharge of 6.51 cents per kWh in October 2006, there has been a reduction of 67%. The basis for the reduction in the fuel surcharge rate is the reduced level of diesel generation at FEA’s power stations. This is due to the high rainfall Monasavu dam received in late 2006, which eased the water shortage situation that existed at Monasavu for nearly three consecutive years and helped FEA to increase its level of hydro generation. The new surcharge rate of 2.16 cents per kWh will be implemented from 16th February 2007. "
